TTP is helping farmers to reduce costs and improve the health of cattle and other animals through the development of automated biosensors which monitor and manage animal welfare.

Well Cow™ – a joint venture that combines Roslin Foundation’s track record in animal welfare developments with TTP's proven innovative product and market development expertise – is a leading provider of non invasive embedded sensors to continuously monitor the dietary health of ruminant animals.

So far, Well Cow™ technology has demonstrated that continuous monitoring can provide early indications of the onset of rumen acidosis which can be very detrimental to the productivity of farm animals. Ruminant animals convert forage containing cellulose by bacterial fermentation into nutrients. The health of the bacterial culture in the rumen is essential for the health and productivity of the animal.

Our technology has the potential to deliver, via wireless telemetry, the automated detection of dietary problems in milk herds and to be extended to monitor the welfare of other animals including beef cattle, sheep and horses. Early indication of problems allows farmers and breeders to better manage animal health, with resultant impact on factors such as milk yields, herd value and labour costs.
