Traditional security systems are commonly deployed to detect intruders and protect assets in unoccupied locations. They do not work well in situations where people enter and leave an area legitimately.

TTP, in a joint venture with Tagtec, has overcome this problem by developing patented wireless security technology ideal for protecting valuables 24 hours a day, seven days a week in any occupied location.

The breakthrough comes from Tagtec’s unique technology which can be used to detect relative movement of tags in zones or relative to each other – this can be done in a way which is unaffected by environmental disturbances. This unique approach in low cost radio frequency identification (RFID) tags opens up a wide range of applications using the spectrum of unregulated frequencies that are the most appropriate for the desired requirements of range and sensitivity.

Potential applications include domestic households, museums, art galleries, exhibitions, retail outlets, schools, colleges, commercial/industrial premises and vehicles and their contents.

A typical application in vehicle security allows immediate detection of the opening of tagged doors or the movement of tagged valuables in the vehicle. The Tagtec system will instantly detect changes in position as small as a few mm or whenever tags are tampered with. Systems can be configured using tags fitted with lifetime batteries to eliminate the need for wiring and power supplies.
