Business Development Lead (Biosensing)
Cambridge, United Kingdom
Successful Business Development is built on belief. If you believe in your product or service, your message instantly becomes more authentic and compelling. Join TTP as a Business Development Lead and you’ll get to source and scope opportunities for products and services you can truly believe in. You’ll get to partner with the world’s most ambitious companies on projects that are shaping the future of global healthcare. Your work will help turn novel life-changing concepts into reality.
You’ll be joining our Biosensing Team. With their support, you’ll get to explore partnering opportunities to develop breakthrough devices to accurately monitor diabetes. With an estimated 537 million diabetics worldwide, the team have ambitions for a hugely positive global impact.
You’ll be entrusted to research and identify new business opportunities, including growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services, and new ways of reaching existing markets.
Underpinned by a culture of freedom. You’ll get to use your creative flair to foster and develop customer relationships to build a solid sales pipeline.
Your technical skills won’t go to waste either. Whether you’re from an engineering, scientific, or software background, it’s your ability to communicate on a level with technical experts that matters.
You’ll get to assess and understand client needs (and the needs of their customers) to develop strategies, set objectives, and respond to these effectively.
In short, you’ll be the pivotal link between the customer and the project teams as ideas turn into life-changing products for diabetics globally.
You might not yet describe yourself as a business developer. You might currently be an engineer, a scientist, or a software developer. But there’s something that magnetically draws you towards networking and exploring new opportunities. You’re ready for more and a greater focus on business development feels like the right step in your professional development.
What matters most is that you’re able to articulate your ability to seek out new business opportunities, discover new markets, and create viable solutions to solve each client’s unmet needs.
You’ll have opportunities to travel internationally to meet with clients and attend global conferences. Depending on your prospecting focus, you could make between 6 and 12 trips each year to visit prospects, keep up to date with the state of the art at academic conferences, and discuss value propositions at trade shows.
You’ll also get to apply your experience of negotiating CDA’s and ToB’s as well as aspects of your project leadership skills when exploring the scope of work. This will involve leading the proposal writing for a significant phase of work, organising the right team to undertake the project, putting together the programme plan, communicating the activities and deliverables to the client, and working with the client to ensure that the deliverables meet their needs.
Due to the complexity of our project work, a background of academic excellence is required with a minimum of a 1st or a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in a technical discipline.
You’ll immediately benefit from our culture of freedom. This, along with our collaborative culture, encourages teamwork, collective learning, and innovation. It also creates unique opportunities to keep your professional development on track.
As an employee-owned business operating from green surroundings in Melbourn, just south of Cambridge, our working culture encourages shared ideas and collaboration along with the freedom to do your best work.
Inclusion & Diversity
Our business revolves around collaborating with one another to tackle genuinely hard problems. Equality and diversity in the workplace are some of the most challenging problems facing society. We can’t profess to be perfect in this regard or to yet have all the answers. But we continuously strive to do better, and we fundamentally believe in the power and importance of diversity – both for our community and for the overall success of our business.
We, therefore, encourage applications from all individuals. Whatever your background, whatever your identity, we would love to hear from you.
