We work in a wide variety of application areas, including: bioprocess; cell therapy; high-throughput drug discovery; point of care diagnostics; cancer screening; gene editing; molecular detection and sequencing.

In addition to working with clients on a fees-for-time basis, we also develop enabling technologies for licensing (https://www.ttp.com/work/cases/puckdx-ttps-robot-in-a-coffee-pod) or as a basis for new spin-out companies like Cellular Highways (https://www.cellularhighways.com).

We are seeking a senior business developer to work across our life science business, taking a leading role in identifying and developing new future commercial opportunities to build sales pipeline for the team.

Requirements

The activity of business development within TTP is deeply integrated with our technical teams, forming close links between our capabilities, ideas, and market opportunities. Insight gained through business development is a vital catalyst for the creation of new ideas and, as such, you will have an enquiring mind and strongly entrepreneurial outlook.

You will use your expert knowledge and insights to identify opportunities and work with our technical teams to develop new commercial propositions for our clients.

You will have excellent people skills and be able to build meaningful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, both within TTP and the companies we engage. Operating across the business unit and as part of the leadership team, you will also seek to inspire and nurture business development capabilities in others.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for establishing new business relationships and building a significant leads and sales pipeline.
  • Strong academic credentials in engineering or science coupled with in depth knowledge of the life science sector.
  • At least 10 years of post-graduate work experience.
  • Direct experience of the life science and / or healthcare sector, resulting from working in the industry. Specific experience in the diagnostics, ‘omics or cell and gene space would be a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrable thought leadership skills.
  • An established network of contacts with whom you have successfully developed new business opportunities.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to develop effective sales and marketing collateral.
  • Proven ability to identify prospective clients and partners and secure introductory meetings with senior stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of research and development and the commercialisation of technologies and products.
  • Contract negotiation skills would be an advantage.
  • The ability to travel internationally, 30% - 50% of the time.
