We’re looking for a pragmatic, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Product Engineering team to help develop and design our future products.

These new products will mean that our micropumps can enable even more cutting-edge innovation across the medical, life science, environmental and industrial sectors. They’re already used in an extraordinary range of inventions - such as a breathalyser that will test for cancer, a novel treatment for sleep apnoea, and a hospital-grade vital signs monitor. The potential for our technology is huge. So, your work will make a genuine and meaningful impact.

The role

In this role you’ll be given a high degree of ownership and will develop technically challenging solutions across the entire product development process, from fundamental concept evaluation through to new product introduction.

The role has a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Hands-on problem solving and investigation
  • Product and part design (in CAD) and creation of detailed drawings
  • Design of fixtures and prototypes to support development activities
  • Working with suppliers to source and qualify bespoke components
  • Driving formal product qualification processes such as FAI, D/PFMEA, Product Qualification
  • Project management and leadership
  • Administration of CAD vault database

Requirements

As an ideal candidate you will have the following:

  • An excellent academic record with a 2:1 or above undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2-5 years’ experience developing components, assemblies, and materials in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced SolidWorks (or similar)
  • Previous experience in mould tool design and iteration
  • Capability to work collaboratively with a small and agile team
  • Excellent communication skills

Requirements (desirable)

  • Experience applying geometric tolerancing to engineering drawings
  • Experience working with Asia/Pacific suppliers
  • Hands on experience of measurement of parts using optical, touch probe or traditional metrology instruments
  • Part/product qualification (e.g. mould tooling acceptance, design verification, D/PFMEA)
  • Previous experience working within the quality management system of a product business
  • Hands-on experience of micron-to mm-scale production processes as well as automated assembly
