Software Architect Process Control

Description

Join a pioneering team at the forefront of Cell & Gene product innovation! TTP is a collaborative consultancy driven by a passion for cutting-edge product development and we’re seeking an experienced Software Architect to spearhead our technically challenging, multi-phase, development projects.

You’ll be joining the Cell and Gene Team who develop bespoke, innovative hardware solutions in the field of cell and gene therapies. We combine biology, engineering, and physical sciences to develop ground-breaking solutions and are making big strides in revolutionising manufacturing and process automation so more people have access to ground-breaking cell therapies that have shown incredible results in fighting cancer.

As a Software Architect you’ll be involved in the full product development lifecycle, from requirement capture to delivering prototypes, enabling international clients to deliver life-saving therapies. We’re truly interdisciplinary – you’ll be working closely with life scientists and engineers to realise the projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your engineering skills across a range of disciplines. You will be a key member of our engineering team. You will have experience of leading software projects, but you will be flexible in your approach and will have the opportunity to work closely with the broader electronics, mechanical, biology and system engineering aspects of the projects as well.

This role will appeal to you if you retain a passion for “hands-on” development while, at the same time, using your experience to guide the “big picture” thinking needed to bring projects to a successful conclusion.

Requirements

Your application will stand out if you can demonstrate how you have:

  • Have defined system architectures and high-level product specifications to create robust, scalable, and secure solutions with familiarity with OPC-UA, GAMP5, and software for GMP applications
  • Have identified requirements and worked with connectivity to 3rd party systems, both local and cloud based, for manufacturing control systems.
  • Experience in scoping time and cost for software projects within larger multidisciplinary teams, then coordinating execution and delivery.
  • Utilised appropriate tools and methodologies to define software requirement specifications and architecture.
  • Led development teams to select implementation technologies and establish quality assurance processes aligned with architecture.
  • Ensured consistency of development progress with initial design, adapting architecture and plans as needed.
  • Engaged with colleagues as a mentor, sharing skills and experience, identifying skill requirements and evaluating recruitment candidates.
  • Excellent communication skills to summarise project status and discuss critical issues/milestones.
  • An excellent academic record with 1st or 2:1 degree in Software Engineering or equivalent

It would be great if you can demonstrate your:

  • Track record / working knowledge in a relevant industry domain such as:
  • Experience in working with PLCs in process control environments
  • Application software (industrial automation, networking protocols, UI frameworks, IT systems)
  • Excellent knowledge of software specification, architecture design methodologies, and familiarity with various requirements management and system modelling tools.
  • Experience in commercial software development and coding (e.g. C, C++, C# (.NET), Python, Javascript)
  • Experience in developing software for communications protocols including OPC-UA, MQTT, REST
  • Experience of software development tools including CI/CD automation
  • Test Driven Development techniques for verification and validation with GAMP traceability
  • Hands-on experience of debugging SW on embedded platforms
  • Experience developing software in regulated, process-control industries
