Military communications
Next-generation resilient, adaptive & attritable defence communications.
In today’s contested environments, secure and robust communications underpin operational success. TTP fuses deep technical insight with multidisciplinary engineering to advance satellite communications, mesh networks, software defined radio, and agile platforms, delivering systems that anticipate tomorrow’s threats and provide rapid solutions for today’s urgent operational brief.

Redefining defence communications for modern operations
Modern defence operations depend on fast, reliable, and secure communications, often under the harshest conditions. The electromagnetic spectrum is crowded, contested, and often a critical lifeline at the frontline making it a high-value target for nefarious actors. High-value information must flow seamlessly yet securely, through a diverse range of systems such as deep-space relay, ad hoc ground networks and small uncrewed aircraft.
We partner closely with defence primes, startups, SMEs, integrators and end-users to develop bespoke communication systems where performance must be proven against mission-critical criteria. We leverage our deep capabilities in the fundamentals of communications technologies and decades of expertise in harnessing a variety of radio hardware to enable the most optimal platforms that are robust and reliable not just in the lab, but in real-world deployment.

Understanding the unique conditions presented by the harsh environment at sea, we partnered with TTP and SpaceCom to develop ELMA and deliver the reliable, resilient satellite communications capabilities that mariners need and expect from Viasat Government Services. Leveraging the exceptional capabilities of TTP to provide systems engineering along with SpaceCom’s proven capabilities in antenna development and integration of L-band systems, ELMA is the first of its kind L-band system, revolutionizing the capabilities of the Viasat ELERA network.

Over the next 8-10 years, we expect the presence of uncrewed vehicles in mixed airspace to outgrow that of commercial air transport. Leveraging TTP’s expertise, our new UAV terminals are designed to offer scalable and robust multi-link communications that are less reliant on existing infrastructure. This advancement supports the digital ecosystem and will significantly contribute to the modernisation of air traffic programmes.

Leveraging next-generation satcom technologies for uninterrupted multi-domain operations
Satellite communications remain the backbone for long-range, beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) connectivity, critical for theatre-wide C2, ISR, and allied force integration. But new challenges abound: adversarial jamming, LEO congestion, and the need for secure, real-time data across variable orbits.
TTP’s expertise spans advanced waveform development, dynamic beam steering, and adaptive encryption, validated across both legacy and new-space constellations. From system modelling and satellite constellation design to RF systems, antenna design, and high-performance digital processing, we enable the development of highly customised solutions that meet the stringent and unique requirements of military applications.
We emphasize system flexibility at pace, enabling rapid reconfiguration for mission-specific requirements, from low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) tactical data exchange to resilient satcom-on-the-move for crewed and uncrewed platforms. Our solutions move beyond the theoretical to deliver operational value: enhanced spectral efficiency, hardened cybersecurity, and seamless interoperability with terrestrial and airborne assets.

Mesh networks: resiliency through distributed intelligence
Enabling self-healing, decentralized networks for fluid battlefield operations
In dynamic and unpredictable theatres, static, centralized networks are a liability. TTP engineers robust mesh networking solutions that transform every node into both transmitter and relay, enabling networks that not only persist, but optimise and heal themselves as the environment changes.
Our technical toolkit covers spectrum-aware routing protocols, interference mitigation, and resource-aware Quality of Service (QoS). Iterative simulation and field testing under diverse signal conditions ensure that our mesh topologies self-organize against spectrum crowding and kinetic disruptions, maintaining data flow even when conventional infrastructure fails.
The result: secure, low-latency communications that scale from individual dismounted units to complex autonomous swarms, empowering mission command, sensor fusion, and real-time situational awareness.

Software defined radio: the foundation for flexible force multipliers
Deploying SDR architectures that adapt, defend, and persist in real time.
Software defined radio (SDR) has revolutionised defence communications by decoupling hardware from waveforms, enabling radical adaptability.
Our engineers architect modular, deployable SDRs supporting a wide frequency spectrum, able to switch quickly between protocols, modulation schemes, and encryption standards. We focus on GNSS-denied environments, rapid EW countermeasures, and integration with AI-driven spectrum management.
From tactical voice/data to electronic warfare payloads, our SDRs are engineered for reliability, low SWaP-C, and field-upgradable functionality. TTP’s engineering discipline means not only high-fidelity signal integrity but systems hardened against both hostile compromise and mission drift.

Agile systems: engineering for change, at the speed of conflict
Today’s communications environments can change faster than requirements docs. Agile systems engineering at TTP means rapid iteration, modular design, and test regimes that match operational tempo. From early-stage technology demonstrators to final-fit deployments, we emphasize flexibility and cross-domain integration.
We draw on model-based systems engineering (MBSE), digital twins, and continuous integration pipelines to cut time-to-field. Collaboration with end-users and procurement authority is woven into project workflows, ensuring that adaptability, maintainability, and extensibility are outcomes, not afterthoughts.
